Approach before judging the façade
Architecture begins with approach. Before standing directly in front of Bremen Teater, watch how it appears between roofs, trees and traffic in Copenhagen. Distance reveals silhouette and scale; the final few steps reveal joints, weathering and the threshold between street and interior.
Do not search only for the most famous angle. Walk one side, look back and notice which neighbouring buildings the design acknowledges or ignores. The surrounding block explains why the building feels quiet, theatrical, heavy or unexpectedly open.
Material, structure and light
