Many Ways to Tell a Story
Discover
Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown brings together fine art, folk art, photography, and art by Native peoples of North America. Its collections offer different perspectives on American life and creativity. Rather than treating the visit as a single timeline, look for how materials, makers, and individual histories create different ways of telling a story.

An artwork can carry the story of its maker as well as its subject. At Fenimore Art Museum, different collections invite different approaches to American art, history, and culture. Start with one object and follow the questions it raises.
What do you want to know first about an artwork: who made it, how, or why?
