Bronx Zoo
A Bronx Story of Wildlife
Discover
The Bronx Zoo opened in 1899, and its history connects animal care, wildlife education, and conservation. A visit offers a starting point for learning about animals and the habitats they depend on. Instead of treating the day as a checklist of sightings, choose a few subjects to explore through the zoo’s interpretation and conservation stories.
Before you go
Use the official map to plan your route and check which experiences need separate reservations.
Capture
For actual wildlife photographs, follow site rules and leave room for habitat context.
Social
A zoo visit can begin with an animal and lead to a much larger question about habitat and conservation. The Bronx Zoo’s story stretches back to 1899, with wildlife education woven into its history.
Which animal would inspire you to learn more about its habitat?
