Shaniwar Wada in Pune, Maharashtra, is a majestic fortress known for its intricate architecture. The 16th-century fortress has five gates, including the Dilli Darwaza (Delhi Gate) and the Ganesh Darwaza (Ganesh Gate), which are awe-inspiring sights. 2. This historic structure is believed to be haunted! According to local legends, the ghost of a young prince named Narayan haunts the fort, and his cries for help can be heard on full moon nights. 3. The fortress used to have nine floors, but unfortunately, only the base survives today due to fires and natural calamities. However, the remnants still showcase the grandeur and beauty of the original structure. 4. Shaniwar Wada witnessed a unique tradition known as the "Wada Dance," performed by the Bhorpade family for over 280 years. This mesmerizing dance, accompanied by traditional music, was an integral part of the royal court's entertainment. 5. Inside the fort, there was a hidden path called the Nagarkhana, which was used to secretly escape during emergencies. However, this secret passage was closed after an attack on the fort in the 18th century.
